This summer I started swimming as cardiovascular exercise. I’ve had a pool for years and have floated around during the summer, but I’ve never before really used it as legitimate exercise. So I started out and have worked my way up to swimming about 800 or so meters, three or four times a week. At my rapidly advancing age, I figured I really needed to do something!

Looking at Olympic results, they do 800 meters in about 8 minutes, more or less. I do mine in 32 minutes, give or take. Maybe if I work on my flip turns, I can be ready for 2016 and Rio?
