From National Review (I love getting the chance to point out when Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman is a doofus):

The bad news: Texas is still using bribery as a tool of economic development.

The good news: Bribery works:

Apple will expand its Austin presence with a $304 million campus that will ultimately create 3,600 new jobs, according to an announcement today by Gov. Rick Perry.

Here’s Professor Krugman a few months ago:

So what you need to know is that the Texas miracle is a myth, and more broadly that Texan experience offers no useful lessons on how to restore national full employment.

My second-hand knowledge suggests that Apple is a pretty good company for which to work. A few thousand jobs here, a few thousand there, pretty soon you’re talking real recovery.

Professor Krugman – don’t mess with Texas!
