As we’ve discussed before, money is just a tool we use to make savings and exchanges easier. Money now is just a fictitious construct with value almost entirely due to our continued faith in the government and money. So I guess it’s no surprise that Google considered creating its own money. It’s not that different from America 200 years ago when cities and merchants had their own money. Or from now – anybody ever been to Disney World and gotten Disney Dollars?

Google, Eric Schmidt revealed in a speech today, once considered getting into the digital currency game. The company has seen “various proposals,” its chairman told a crowd at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, to develop a currency that would serve as tender for peer-to-peer economic exchanges taking place across Google’s platforms.
